A fire at a school building prompted the cancellation of classes Thursday in the Mountain Grove School District.

District officials said the fire began near the janitorial office on the second floor of the Ozark Mountain Technical Center and spread into the attic.

Some classrooms sustained smoke damage, according to the district.

Staff members were inside the building when the fire started but were able to evacuate safely. No injuries were reported.

The district announced the closure on social media, citing a schoolwide emergency.

No additional information was immediately available.
