Freshman Peyton Lee turned in a dominant outing to lead No. 4 Arkansas to a 9-4 win over Northern Colorado Wednesday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium, completing a midweek series sweep.

Arkansas improved to 16-6 overall and 5-1 in midweek games this season.

Lee, a true freshman right-hander from Maumelle, delivered a career performance with five shutout innings and six strikeouts. Making his third start of the year, Lee allowed just one hit and carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning.

The Razorbacks wasted little time providing support, jumping out to an early lead in the first inning on RBI singles from Zack Stewart and Carter Rutenbar. Arkansas never trailed and scored in six of eight innings at the plate.

Stewart and Rutenbar each recorded two hits, while Damian Ruiz, Camden Kozeal and Kuhio Aloy also turned in multi-hit performances. Ruiz finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Kozeal scored three runs and continues to lead the team in several offensive categories.

Kozeal now leads Arkansas in runs, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs and total bases, while Ruiz leads the team with a .359 batting average.

Out of the bullpen, Tate McGuire, Cooper Dossett and Luke Cornelison combined for three scoreless innings in relief of Lee.

Northern Colorado plated four runs in the eighth inning, but the Razorbacks had already built a comfortable lead.

Arkansas will return to SEC play this weekend with a road series at South Carolina. First pitch for Friday’s opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. on SEC Network+.
