The Mountain Home Public Schools Board of Education will hold its regular meeting Thursday evening at 6 in the Central Office Board Room.

A series of board officer elections is scheduled, including president, vice president, secretary and legislative liaison. Committee appointments will also be made.

Under action items, board members will consider approval of the 2026-27 salary schedules, along with a proposed salary schedule adjustment. Other items include budget adjustments for fiscal year 2026 and substitute services.

Board members will also consider the purchase of a used route bus as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and reliable transportation fleet.

The transportation department aims to replace several buses each year as older units become less dependable. The proposed purchase would also help replace a bus that was totaled in an accident earlier this year, with approximately $35,000 in insurance funds available to help offset the cost.

According to the proposal, the district is seeking a used gasoline-powered bus with seating for at least 77 passengers and fewer than 30,000 miles. The total cost of the bus would not exceed $125,000.

Board members are also expected to consider approval of a district-wide handheld radio system as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen school safety. The district received a COPS grant that will reimburse 75% of the cost after the initial purchase. Officials reviewed six bids for the system, though not all met requirements. The recommended bid totals $128,225 plus tax, with the district’s final cost estimated at $32,056.25 after reimbursement.

The board will also consider approval of a scholarship committee tied to the Hornlein and Harvey endowments. The proposed committee includes Mary Beth Russell, Heather Hatman, Sheri Smith, Cathy Beckham, Kathy Wham, Madison Ingle, Christy Lawrence and Chris Francis.

The meeting is open to the public.
