A Mountain Home woman is facing a felony theft charge after authorities say she failed to pay for thousands of dollars in merchandise over multiple visits to a local business.
46-year-old Jill Morgan is charged with theft of property from a building between $1,000 and $5,000, a Class D felony.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the case began Feb. 24 when a store’s asset protection team provided a case file documenting suspicious transactions. Authorities reviewed surveillance video and electronic transaction records and identified Morgan as a suspect.
The affidavit states Morgan allegedly visited the store 25 times between Dec. 11, 2025, and Feb. 24, 2026. During those visits, she is accused of selecting merchandise and using self-checkout registers to scan only some items while bagging others without paying for them.
Authorities said she also allegedly scanned multiple items at once but only paid for one, and on one occasion returned an unpaid item for a refund that was issued on a store card.
Investigators estimate the total value of unpaid merchandise at $3,220.
According to the report, officers made contact with Morgan on March 3 and informed her she was no longer allowed at the business and that charges were being pursued.
Morgan has since been released after posting a $5,000 bond.
