Basketball conferences have been announced for Arkansas high school teams for the 2026-28 seasons. The Arkansas Activities Association Board of Directors approved the conferences during a meeting Friday.

Compared to the 2024-26 conference realignment, there was significant movement based on either enrollment or the competitive equity factor. Two area schools are changing classification. Harrison moves from class 5A to class 4A. Mammoth Spring goes from class 2A to class 1A.

CLASS 5A

In class 5A, Mountain Home remains in the 5A West. There will only be one new member of the conference next season. With Harrison dropping down, they will be replaced by Shiloh Christian which is moving up to class 5A.

The 5A West Conference will consist of Alma, Farmington, Greenwood, Mountain Home, Russellville, Shiloh Christian, Siloam Springs and Van Buren.

CLASS 3A

Two area teams will move to the 3A-1 Conference. Bergman and Valley Springs will be joined in the league by Greenland, Haas Hall – Bentonville, Haas Hall – Fayetteville, Lincoln, Providence, Thaden and West Fork.

The 3A-2 Conference will now consist of nine teams, meaning it will get three new teams with the loss of Bergman and Valley Springs. The new teams will be Clinton, Pangburn and Quitman. They will be joined by holdovers Cave City, Flippin, Melbourne, Mountain View, Salem and Yellville-Summit.

CLASS 2A

The 2A-2 Conference loses three teams from the previous cycle. Sloan-Hendrix moves up to class 3A, Mammoth Spring drops down to class 1A and Tuckerman moves to the 2A-3 Conference. The new teams joining the conference are Midland, Ozark Mountain and White County Central. The remaining teams in the 2A-2 are Cedar Ridge, Cotter, Izard County and Marshall.

CLASS 1A

The 1A-1 Conference will expand from eight to nine teams. All eight teams from the last cycle are the same. They include Deer, Founders Classical – Rogers, Jasper, Kingston, Lead Hill, Mount Judea, Omaha and the School for Advanced Studies – NWA. Joining the conference is Alpena, which is dropping down from class 2A.

The 1A-2 also changes by just one team. West Side Greers Ferry leaves the conference while Mammoth Spring takes that spot. The other seven teams remain the same. They include Calico Rock, Concord, Norfork, Rural Special, Shirley, Timbo and Viola.
