Missouri fell in its series finale to No. 22 Tennessee, 7-1, on Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Tigers (16-8, 1-5 SEC) were held to one run as the Volunteers (17-7, 3-3 SEC) used timely hitting and strong pitching to secure the series.

Pierre Seals provided Missouri’s lone run with a solo home run in the sixth inning, his second of the series. Kaden Peer added two hits, including a double, and finished the weekend hitting .455.

Left-hander Brady Kehlenbrink pitched into the seventh inning, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out nine. He was charged with the loss.

Tennessee broke the game open with a three-run fourth inning and added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth to pull away.

Missouri threatened late but stranded runners in scoring position and was unable to mount a comeback.

The Tigers return to action Tuesday against Illinois at CarShield Park in O’Fallon, Missouri.
