Sid will share stories Tuesday night about his life on the road

Glenn Campbell, Waylon Jennings, The Beach Boys and Ray Charles are names that evoke a golden time in music history and this Tuesday the Baxter County Historical Society will host a man who spent his career running sound for these and other big names in the music industry.

Sid Pierce will be the featured speaker as part of the society’s monthly meeting held at the Donald W. Reynolds Library.

Pierce began life in Gainesville and after high school worked a few years at Baxter Labs in Mountain Home. He performed in a few bands at “the line” in the 1970s and Sid, as he prefers to be called, says it was a chance stop at a store in Mountain Home that began his career as a touring sound man.

His book “Roadie… from the Tour Bus to the School Bus” is a collection of stories from his million miles on the road. That road had him running sound for many prominent artists and speakers.

Sid’s father was long time Sheriff of Ozark County Herman Pierce who worried at times about the different career path his son had taken. A Roy Clark event years later helped ease his mind.
