The Springfield Cardinals will host their Major League affiliate, the St. Louis Cardinals, Monday night at Hammons Field in a special exhibition ahead of the regular season.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:05, marking the first meeting between the two teams in Springfield in nearly a decade.

Springfield Cardinals Manager of Public Relations and Digital Marketing Steve Granado said the matchup brings the organization full circle, referencing the franchise’s early days when St. Louis played exhibition games in Springfield shortly after the team’s arrival in 2005.

The game also serves as an early kickoff to the season, with the Springfield Cardinals returning as reigning 2025 champions and expected to feature several players from last year’s title team.

Gates will open at 2:30, allowing fans to watch batting practice and pregame activities.

The Springfield Cardinals’ official home opener is set for April 7, but Monday’s game is expected to generate early excitement for the season with additional promotions planned throughout the year.

Fans unable to attend can watch the game on the Ozarks CW.
