
Hot and dry conditions have prompted multiple local counties and municipalities to issue burn bans.
As of Monday afternoon, Marion, Boone, Newton, Searcy, Fulton, Izard and Sharp Counties were all under burn bans with the cities of Salesville and Norfork in Baxter County and Flippin in Marion County also declaring a ban.
Izard County Judge Eric Smith placed the county under a burn ban Sunday. In a statement released by the county the judge noted,”We do not want to have to charge anyone under this statute, so please help us keep our community safe and do not burn during this time.”
Boone County was placed under a burn ban Sunday with County Judge Tyler Gentry stating the decision was made after speaking with the County Fire Coordinator, Office of Emergency Management, and the Forestry Commission according to a county notice.
Sunday saw the Salesville Fire Department issue a burn ban for all incorporated areas in the city due to unseasonal weather conditions.
All of Northern Arkansas is under high wild fire danger according to the Arkansas Forestry Division.
Mostly clear conditions will dominate the forecast over the next seven days will with slight chances of rain possible Tuesday and Friday.
