A domestic dispute between a man and a woman in Monette resulted in a stabbing and the arrest of both individuals, according to a probable-cause affidavit.

Mary Lynn Petty faces a charge of second-degree domestic battery, a Class C felony, following a probable cause finding Monday by Special Judge Ralph Wilson. Kevin Dewayne Guiltner was also arrested.

Police responded around 5:45 p.m. Sunday to a reported stabbing on Honis Avenue. Guiltner, 47, told officers he had been stabbed by Petty.

Officers later located Petty at a residence on Scott Avenue. According to the affidavit, Petty told police the two were involved in a fight inside a bedroom when Guiltner grabbed her, threw her against a wall, and struck her.

Petty told officers she then grabbed a knife and swung it, cutting Guiltner’s arm before leaving the residence.

Both Petty and Guiltner were taken into custody. Authorities said both individuals refused medical treatment.

They are each being held on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
