Boone County Quorum Court to address judge vacancy April 9

The Boone County Quorum Court will hold a special meeting April 9 to address a vacancy in the office of Boone County Judge.The meeting is scheduled for 6 that evening at the Boone County Office of Emergency Management Building, 400 E. Prospect Ave. in Harrison.

During the session, justices of the peace will consider a resolution to formally declare a vacancy following the resignation of County Judge Robert Hathaway. The court is also expected to consider appointing an individual to serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2026.

Under Arkansas law, the quorum court is responsible for declaring the vacancy and appointing a qualified individual to fill the position.

Those interested in being considered for the appointment are asked to submit a resume and/or letter of qualifications and interest to the Boone County Judge’s Office at 100 N. Main Street, Suite 300, Harrison, AR 72601. Submissions must be received by 4:30 p.m. April 1.
