Cotter City Council to hold regular meeting after public hearing Thursday

The Cotter City Council will hold a public hearing Thusday night at 6 followed by its regular meeting to address several items of unfinished and new business, along with updates and community information.The public hearing will be held to receive comments regarding the proposed vacating of an alley between 106 Combs Avenue (Lots 801–804) and 155 McLean Avenue (Lots 545–548) begining at Second Street and extending to the boundary of Lots 544 and 805.

Following the hearing, the city council will convene in regular session to consider ordinance options for vacating the alley.

In unfinished buisiness council members will receive an update on Ordinance 2025-02 regarding cleanup of property at 427 McLean. An update will also be given on Ordinance 2025-05 concerning the ordered removal and cleanup of property at 433 South Avenue.

In new business items the council will consider three ordinances related to vacating the alley discussed during the public hearing.

Information items scheduled include the draft of the City of Cotter’s Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence Employee Policy. Members will also enter into the record that the city’s 2023 and 2024 Financial and Compliance Report was approved by the Arkansas Legislative Audit Committee.

Additional updates include a report from ARDOT on traffic light matters and notice of a railroad crossing improvement project on Big Spring Parkway, tentatively scheduled to begin in 2027. The city’s 2025 financial statement for all departments posted publicly at City Hall, the Post Office, and on the city’s website. Also upcoming community events including the Cotter Warrior Foundation 5K annual fundraiser, “Coffee with the Mayor” will be put on record.

The meeting will also include council comments and public announcements before adjournment.
