Douglas County voters will head to the polls Tuesday, April 7, for Missouri’s General Municipal Election to decide local city issues, countywide questions and several school board races. Missouri does not offer traditional early voting, but voters may cast ballots in person through absentee voting prior to Election Day, which allows a voter to request, complete and submit an absentee ballot at a polling location.
In the City of Ava, voters will consider a proposed one percent city sales tax that would be used to offset expenses for the police and fire departments.
Douglas County voters will also consider a countywide ballot question related to Missouri Senate Bill 3. The measure asks voters whether the county should adopt provisions allowing for a property tax credit for homeowners on their primary residences.
Several school districts serving the region will also have board of education races on the ballot. In the Gainesville R-V School District, voters will choose among Jeff Lane, Marti Warden, Will Johnson, Ashley Hambelton, Laramie Johnson, Wes Uchtman, Heather Bushner and Amy Freeman for a three-year term on the school board.
The Willow Springs R-IV School District will also elect a board member to a three-year term. Candidates include Adam H. Webb, Michele Myers, David Ryan Baldridge, Brendon Wilson, Casey McKee and Matt Hobson.
In the Mountain Grove R-III School District, candidates seeking a three-year term on the board include Sheena Kay White, Ryan Morris, McKenzie Williams, Kory Carpentier, James Ryan Allen, Katie Shannon and Cody Secrest.
Polling places will be open across Douglas County on Tuesday, April 7.
