The trial of a Salesville man whose initial charges included the simultaneous possession of guns and drugs and trafficking Fentanyl was set to begin in Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division Monday (March 23) but the trial was put over until August.
Forty-five-year-old Andrew Jacob Holloway did appear in court Monday, however. A plea offer had been made to him which would have required him to spend six years in prison and make a jury trial unnecessary, but he turned the plea down and it was withdrawn by the state.
He was ordered to reappear April 27.
Holloway was arrested twice in 2024 – once in January and again in March.
In January, a confidential informant is reported to have bought 1.3 grams of Fentanyl and, 3.8 grams of methamphetamine from Holloway
In March, officers from the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Arkansas State Police and the Mountain Home Police Department served a search warrant at Holloway’s residence along State Highway 5 South in Salesville.
The search turned up suspected methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms.
A variety of paraphernalia used to ingest drugs was also found in the residence and a glass smoking pipe was found in the right front pocket of Holloway’s coat.
The law officers also found a Marlin .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle and a Mossberg .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle in a workroom of the residence.
The simultaneous possession charge against Holloway is a Class Y felony and can carry up to a life sentence.
In all, almost 12 grams of methamphetamine and 9.3 grams of psilocybin mushrooms were found.
In addition, various items of drug paraphernalia, including syringes, a glass smoking pipe and a set of digital scales were found.
When Holloway’s name was run through ACIC, he was found to be a convicted felon from Texas, according to the probable cause affidavit.
He has been free on bond.
