Arkansas’ NCAA Tournament run came to an end Thursday night with a 109-88 loss to top-seeded Arizona in the Sweet 16 at SAP Center.
The fourth-seeded Razorbacks finish the season 28-9 after their second straight Sweet 16 appearance and fifth in the last six years.
Arizona controlled the game from the start, shooting 64% from the field and placing six players in double figures. Brayden Burries led the Wildcats with 23 points, while Koa Peat added 21.
Arkansas struggled to keep pace offensively, shooting just 5-of-17 from three-point range. The Razorbacks trailed 54-43 at halftime and were unable to close the gap in the second half as Arizona continued its efficient shooting.
Darius Acuff Jr. led Arkansas with 28 points, including 17 in the second half. Meleek Thomas added 17 points, and Billy Richmond III finished with 13 before fouling out.
The 28 wins mark the most by an SEC team this season and one of the top totals in program history.
