
The White River Marathon is preparing for its 23rd year this November, continuing to draw runners from across the country and beyond.
Race Director Paul Gigliotti said the event has become a destination race, with participants from dozens of states and even overseas.

The marathon, held in Cotter along Denton Ferry Road, is a Boston Marathon qualifier and features a flat course along the White River.

In addition to the race, the event also serves as a fundraiser for local nonprofits. Organizers are currently accepting charity applications through Tax Day, with a simple process asking groups to explain their mission and how funds would be used. Gigliotti said the goal is to support projects that have a clear impact in the community, with more than $20,000 distributed to local organizations last year.
The event also relies heavily on volunteers from across the Twin Lakes Area.
