One man died and one man was injured in an Izard County crash earlier this month that led to a hazmat team having to clean up a fuel spill. The Arkansas State Police (ASP) has identified the man killed as 31-year-old Dalton Ray Graham of Brookland. Injured in the accident was 34-year-old Dalton Lee McClung of Paragould. He was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock for treatment.
According to the ASP report which was just released Saturday, the accident happened March 18 when McClung was driving a tow truck with Graham as a passenger. They were pulling a truck and tanker. Their vehicle ran off the highway, then re-entered the roadway and crossed both lanes and came to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The accident happened in Guion at 4:11 in the afternoon.
According to Izard County Sheriff Charley Melton, the crash was about one half of a mile from the White River and the highway was blocked for numerous hours as all three vehicles overturned.
A hazmat crew worked for two days to clean up fuel that was spilled from the overturned tanker that was being towed.
