Taney County voters to decide city races in Branson, Merriam Woods

Taney County voters will head to the polls Tuesday, April 7, for Missouri’s General Municipal Election with city races, school board contests and several district positions on the ballot.One of the municipal races will be in the City of Merriam Woods, located just north of Branson, where voters will choose a mayor to fill a one-year unexpired term. Candidates for the position are Robert Amos and Barbara Durham. Merriam Woods voters will also select aldermen in three wards. In Ward 1, Joshua D. Farrington, Sara Keltner and Anthony Eugene Wilfong are on the ballot. In Ward 2, Prescilla Camacho Garcia faces Dennis Mount. In Ward 3, Peggy S. Fischer, David Lind and Shawna Maggart are competing for the seat.

In the City of Branson, voters will choose an alderman for Ward III between Ralph J. LeBlanc and Ashley Harkness. In Rockaway Beach, voters will decide the Ward 2 alderman race between Matt Dieckhaus and Lidia S. Intravia.

Several local districts will also elect board members. In the Western Taney County Fire Protection District, Stephanie Alicia Single, Lori A. Hammon and Nick Sharp are seeking a six-year term on the board of directors. Voters in Taney County Ambulance District Sub-District No. 1 will choose a director for a three-year term between Josh Smith, Chris Larsen and Kevin Tweedy.

School board elections will also be held across the county. In the Forsyth R-III School District, Nikki Henson, Jayson Fisher, Brenda Persinger and Jared Layton are running for three open seats on the board of education. The Branson Reorganized School District No. 4 will also elect three board members from a field including Sonja Myer, Dustin Price, Andi Selby and Richard Marks.

Countywide, voters will also decide Proposition No. 1, which asks whether Taney County should implement a property tax credit program designed to limit certain tax increases on eligible homeowners’ primary residences.
