High early voting totals in Baxter County are painting a picture of an engaged electorate as the runoff election day is to be decided Tuesday.
Baxter County Clerk Canda Reese spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News Monday afternoon and her office has been happy to see a large turnout over the past week with 3389 early votes cast leading into election day.
Listen:
The voter turn out represents 10 percent of over 31,000 registered voters in Baxter County. Reese says a couple of factors are driving voters to the polls for this runoff election.
Listen:
The last runoff election that approached this level of turnout was in the spring of 2022 to decide the County Judge seat. That race saw 2243 votes cast in early voting which this election has exceeded by 1,146 early votes. The County Clerk says she thinks this year could rival the total vote once all the ballots are counted.

Voting centers will be open Tuesday from 7:30 to 7:30 around the county. Reese shared who can participate in the runoff election.
