Fimple named head coach of Arkansas Tech Golden Suns

Arkansas Tech University has named Daryl Fimple as the new head coach of its women’s basketball program.Fimple becomes the seventh head coach in the history of the Golden Suns program. His appointment was announced Monday by ATU Director of Athletics Abby Davis.

A former Arkansas Tech player and student assistant, Fimple returns to the program where his coaching career began. Davis said Fimple has spent years preparing for the opportunity and brings the knowledge and relationships needed to continue the program’s tradition.

Fimple comes to Arkansas Tech following a successful high school coaching career, winning 668 games with stops at Lonoke and North Little Rock. He led North Little Rock to six state championships and multiple deep postseason runs.

In a statement, Fimple said he is honored to return to Arkansas Tech and is committed to building on the program’s success while developing student-athletes on and off the court.

Arkansas Tech’s women’s basketball program is one of the most successful in NCAA Division II history, with more than 1,100 all-time wins and multiple national championship appearances.

Fimple will be introduced during a public event Wednesday afternoon at Tucker Coliseum.
