Cassell wins Searcy County sheriff’s race; other results finalized

Searcy County voters returned incumbent Sheriff Kenny Cassell to office Tuesday as Republican primary runoff results were finalized from all precincts.

Cassell won reelection, defeating Troy Dye with 803 votes, or 56 percent. Dye received 631 votes, or 44 percent.

In the race for county collector, Melissa Ward secured the nomination with 781 votes, or 55.35 percent. Jenny Gray received 630 votes, or 44.65 percent.

For justice of the peace in District 1, Zachary Graham won with 113 votes, or 55.94 percent. David Roberts finished with 89 votes, or 44.06 percent.

In the constable race for District 2, Joseph Baysinger edged Billy Joe Cordell in a close contest. Baysinger received 378 votes, or 50.27 percent, while Cordell had 374 votes, or 49.73 percent.

In the Republican race for Secretary of State, Bryan Norris carried Searcy County with 746 votes, or 56.09 percent. Senator Kim Hammer received 584 votes, or 43.91 percent.

All precincts in Searcy County were fully reported.
