BC Quorum Court to meet Tuesday; Bennet’s Bayou bridge replacement to be discussed

The Baxter County Quorum Court will meet in regular session Tuesday with new business items including a discussion for funding the replacement of the bridge at Bennett’s Bayou.

Treasurer Jenay Mize is scheduled to deliver the treasurer’s report. Committee reports will include an update from the Budget Committee, presented by Dennis Frank.

A presentation is also scheduled from Kim Crow-Sheaner regarding the library.

Under new business, quorum court members will consider several ordinances and resolutions, including an ordinance appropriating $6,412.02 in fees and reimbursements received in February to the Sheriff’s Office 2026 budget. An ordinance appropriating $150,000 in carryover funds from the Road and Bridge Fund into the 2026 Road and Bridge budget. An ordinance transferring $96,062.84 from the Baxter County Airport Fund into the Airport Grants Fund and appropriating those funds into the 2026 budget.

In matter related to prior years, an ordinance to repeal Ordinance 2025-60 regarding an interlocal agreement between Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home related to district court accounting records and county-level programming. An ordinance re-appropriating funds in the 2025 budget previously authorized in Ordinance 2024-53 for state-mandated budget clean-up.

Other new items include an ordinance re-appropriating workers’ compensation deficits in various department personal services within the 2026 budget. A resolution expressing the county’s willingness to utilize federal-aid monies for the Bennetts Bayou Bridge replacement on County Road 46. A resolution confirming the re-appointment of Richard Hytinen to the Clarkridge Volunteer Fire Department Board of Commissioners.

The meeting is open to the public and begins at 5:30 in the second floor courtroom in the Baxter County Courthouse.
