One dead after officer involved shooting in Izard County

One person is dead after an officer involved shooting in Izard County Saturday morning.

The Izard County Sheriff’s Office says dispatch received a call about 9:45 regarding a disturbance involving an individual armed with a knife making threats.

When deputies arrived, the suspect confronted a deputy and refused to comply with demands. During the encounter, the suspect was shot and died.

Izard County Sheriff Charley Melton has requested the Arkansas State Police to lead the investigation into the incident.
