Earlier today, the Arkansas General Assembly passed a resolution proclaiming April 21, 2026, as Lineworker Appreciation Day.

Arkansas lineworkers from different utilities were recognized at the Arkansas State Capitol for their professionalism and dedication to keeping the lights on for Arkansans. Lineworkers are often first responders during severe storms and put their lives on the line every day with little recognition.

“The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas lineworkers are true professionals that are dedicated to ensuring that our members have reliable electric service,” said Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation/Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. President/CEO Vernon “Buddy” Hasten. “Today and everyday these brave individuals are always appreciated.”

The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas comprise electric distribution cooperatives; Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI), a Little Rock-based cooperative that provides services to the distribution cooperatives; and Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. (AECC), a generation and transmission cooperative. The distribution cooperatives provide electricity to more than 1 million members, or customers, in Arkansas and surrounding states.
