
No. 24 Arkansas broke open a tight game with an eight-run eighth inning to defeat Missouri State 12-4 Tuesday night at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Tied at four entering the bottom of the eighth, the Razorbacks erupted for eight runs on seven hits, highlighted by home runs from Ryder Helfrick and TJ Pompey.
Carter Rutenbar gave Arkansas the lead with a two-run single to make it 6-4, followed by an RBI double from Camden Kozeal. Helfrick then delivered a three-run homer before Pompey added a two-run shot to cap the inning.
Kozeal led the Razorbacks at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double, home run and two RBIs. Nolan Souza also had three hits, while Reese Robinett and Kuhio Aloy each added two.
Helfrick’s home run was his team-leading 14th of the season.
On the mound, Tate McGuire made the start and allowed two runs over 3.2 innings with four strikeouts. Arkansas’ bullpen combined to allow just one earned run over the final 5.1 innings while striking out eight.
With the win, Arkansas improves to 27-15 overall and 9-2 in midweek games this season.
The Razorbacks will return to SEC play this weekend with a road series at Missouri beginning Thursday night.
