According to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Marubeni-Itochu Steel America Inc. is investing more than $37 million to construct an advanced flat-rolled steel processing plant in Osceola. The project is expected to create approximately 35 jobs.
The facility will be located adjacent to Big River Steel and will operate as part of MISA Specialty Processing, expanding the company’s network of metal processing facilities in North America.
Officials say the new service center will enhance the region’s capacity to produce high-quality steel and will serve customers across multiple industries, including automotive, throughout the South-Central United States.
State and local leaders say the project reflects continued growth in Arkansas’s steel industry, particularly in Mississippi County, which is recognized as a major steel-producing region.
