After man jumps out of moving vehicle, driver arrested for DWI

After a man jumped out of a moving vehicle in Mountain Home, the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The incident Monday night in Mountain Home led to four charges against 39-year-old Kristie Lynn Friend of Midway.According to the incident report from the Mountain Home Police Department, officers were called to the area of the Ollie’s store for a report of a man who had jumped out of a moving vehicle. While en route, they learned Friend had left the scene on foot and appeared to be intoxicated.

One of the responding officers found Friend at the corner of Market and College Streets. He noted he could smell the odor of intoxicants and Friend was slurring her words.

Friend admitted she had been driving the vehicle when the man jumped out. She also said she had two drinks at a local restaurant.

Friend was given Standardized Field Sobriety Tests which showed numerous clues of impairment and she was taken into custody.

She is charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a chemical test, no liability insurance and public intoxication. She is free after posting $1,995 bond.

The man told police he jumped from the car after an argument with Friend. He was taken by private vehicle to Baxter Health for treatment of his injuries.
