
Baxter County officials report sales tax revenue increased in April compared to the same month last year.
According to the Treasurer’s Office, the county’s portion of sales tax collections rose 7%, an increase of $31,316. The jail’s portion also increased 7%, up $13,746.
Year-to-date totals are also ahead of last year, with the county’s portion up 6.7%, or $128,981, and the jail’s portion up 6.7%, or $56,617.
Despite the gains, revenues are slightly below projections for the year. The county’s portion is down 0.6%, or $12,594, while the jail’s portion is down 0.2%, or $1,687.
