Sheriff Montgomery has been active in educating the public on scam awareness. In recent months, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was featured on the FOX Nation program “Scammed: Getting Even,” highlighting efforts to combat fraudulent activity and assist victims. In addition, Montgomery has hosted multiple live question-and-answer sessions on KTLO-FM 97.9, where listeners have been able to call in and discuss real-life scam scenarios and prevention strategies.
KTLO News previously reported throughout 2025, the sheriff has consistently emphasized that scammers are becoming more sophisticated, often posing as government officials, law enforcement or even family members in distress.
The April meeting will provide an opportunity for attendees to hear directly from Sheriff Montgomery, and learn practical steps to protect themselves and their families from fraud.
The Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month in the Knox Room of the library. The meeting is open to the public.
