The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mountain Home man Monday morning on a felony charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
According to a news release from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a citizen tip on May 8 indicating 51-year-old Anthony Gibson was living in Baxter County without being registered as a sex offender.
Investigators reportedly confirmed Gibson had previously been convicted of child molestation in Indiana and is classified there as a sexually violent predator.
Authorities said Gibson is required to notify law enforcement if he is away from his principal residence for more than 72 hours.
Investigators later determined Gibson owned property in the rural Mountain Home area and had allegedly been staying there for extended periods of time without registering with local authorities as required by law.
A warrant was obtained through Baxter County Circuit Court, and Gibson was arrested Monday morning at the residence.
He was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on a felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender.
Gibson is being held on a $15,000 bond and is expected to appear in circuit court later this month.
