NEXT “Fuel the Future” initiative raises nearly $15,000 for local schools

NEXT Powered by NAEC announced Tuesday its “Fuel the Future” initiative has raised nearly $15,000 this school year to help support students and school districts across the region.

According to the company, NEXT originally contributed $12,000 in 2025 before additional support from community business partners increased the total impact of the program.

Participating business partners included FNBC, Danfoss, Lakeview Auto and Century Bank of the Ozarks.

The funding will help schools cover student meal balances, provide food through backpack programs and purchase school supplies for students in need.

Director of Marketing and Business Development, Cortney Varner, said the goal of the initiative is to help students focus more on learning and less on hunger.

School districts receiving support include Calico Rock, Cave City, Cotter, Highland, Hillcrest, ICC, Mammoth Spring, Melbourne, Mountain Home, Norfork, Salem and Viola.

NEXT, Powered by NAEC is a subsidiary of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative and provides fiber internet and phone service throughout North Arkansas.
