
An Arkansas man in his 70s was injured Wednesday in a bear attack in the Mulberry Mountain area along Arkansas Highway 23, according to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC).
Officials said the man was working on a gravel road with his tractor when the bear attacked. His son arrived on the scene during the attack. Game wardens later killed the animal, described as a smaller bear weighing about 70 pounds.
KTLO News spoke with Senior Vice President and Chief of Communications for the AGFC, Keith Stephens who explains just how uncommon bear attacks in Arkansas are.

The victim was flown to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. No updates on his condition have been released.
A necropsy was performed on the bear, which will be tested for rabies and distemper. Test results are expected within 72 hours.
