The Donald W. Reynolds Library serving Baxter County has added Pilestone Color Blind Glasses to its Special Collections, thanks to a donation from the Mountain Home Lions Club.

The glasses are designed to help individuals with color vision deficiencies perceive colors more accurately by filtering specific wavelengths of light. They do not cure color blindness but enhance color differentiation.

The library offers glasses for red/green color deficiencies in mild, moderate, and severe forms, as well as blue/yellow deficiencies. Adult and child sizes, including clip-on options, are available for checkout.

Phil Garner of the Mountain Home Lions Club said the donation aims to improve access to library resources for those with impaired vision. “Our members hope that the club’s assistance will result in greater visitor access to the library’s many resources,” he said.

Library Director Kim Crow Sheaner said the glasses give patrons a chance to try them before purchasing their own. “We are extremely grateful to the Mountain Home Lions Club for their gift, and to Library staff for recognizing this need,” she said.

The color blind glasses join other items available for checkout at the library’s Special Collections, including telescopes, ukuleles, knitting looms, and fishing poles. The glasses can be borrowed for one week at the Circulation Desk.
