Local anglers will want to mark their calendars: a new fishing tournament is set to launch on Lake Norfork in early November.
Baxter Health will host its first annual Bass Classic on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Lake Norfork Marina in Henderson. The event will kick off Friday with a banquet at the Baxter County Fairgrounds. Proceeds from both will benefit the Baxter Health Foundation’s annual fund, which primarily supports the community houses on the hospital campus.
In past years, the foundation has raised these funds through a ball and separate events. Organizers hope that by combining everything into one weekend, they can pool resources and bring the community together in a stronger show of support.
Gift Officer Cindy Costa told KTLO’s Sammy Raycraft on an upcoming episode of Talk of the Town that the idea for a fishing tournament came after seeing a similar effort in eastern Arkansas.
