
The Mountain Home Junior Varsity Bombers stayed unbeaten Monday night with a 20-19 win over Jonesboro.
Seth Lara opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run, and Kobe Dotson added a pair of rushing scores from 8 and 5 yards out. Michael Gillam converted two extra points, including the game-winner. On defense, Eil Reiss came away with an interception, and Kanye Worman forced a fumble that was recovered by Corban Lefevers. The win pushes the JV Bombers to 4-0 on the season.
In seventh-grade action, the Bombers fell 16-6 to Annie Camp. Mountain Homes lone touchdown came in the first half after Trey Belt intercepted a pass and set up a short scoring run by Asher Hicks. The Whirlwinds answered with two second-half touchdowns, including a 50-plus-yard run on a broken play to seal the win.
Defensive standouts for Mountain Home were Belt, Hicks, Chase Johnson, Ethan Forbus and Willie Laney. The seventh-graders will be on the road again Oct. 6 at Batesville Southside, with kickoff set for 5:30.
