
Arkansas golf is off to a hot start at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. The Razorback men fired a 5-over-par 293 to take a six-stroke lead after the first round, with six players sitting among the top 11. Cam Smith and Thomas Curry are tied for second, while John Daly II, Erich Fortlage, Niilo Maki-Petaja, and Alex Yang all make their presence felt. Smith opened fast with early birdies, while Curry even eagled the par-5 14th. The Hogs lead Louisville and BYU by six strokes heading into round two.On the womens side, Arkansas is firing just as hot. The Razorbacks shot a 2-over 290, giving them a seven-shot lead over Mississippi State. Maria José Marin led the way with three birdies in the final four holes to finish 2-under, while Clarisa Temelo was 1-under and Abbey Schutte carded an even-par 72. Two freshmen, Swetha Sathish and Sayers Allen, made their collegiate debuts, and sophomore Anna Kate Nichols shot 9-over.
Round two tee times are set for Tuesday, with the men hitting hole 1 at 8 a.m. and the women off No. 10 at 9:15 a.m. Arkansas looks poised to keep its early momentum going as the Invitational continues.
