Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Thursday that Arkansas has opened a portal for stakeholders to submit proposals for the state’s Rural Health Transformation Program application.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Sanders submitted a letter of intent to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services notifying the federal agency that Arkansas plans to pursue funding through the program.

The Rural Health Transformation Program, established through federal legislation, provides $50 billion over 10 years to strengthen rural healthcare by improving access, quality, and outcomes. States can receive additional funding by submitting proposals to CMS that support the sustainability of rural healthcare.

Arkansas is accepting submissions through the portal until Oct. 10, 2025. Submissions received after that date will be reviewed at the Department of Health’s discretion. The state must submit its application for federal funding by Nov. 5, 2025.
