Norfork Fire Department announces new storm shelter available downtown

The Norfork Fire Department has announced a new storm shelter is available for area residents during times of severe weather. The department has worked with the City of Norfork to make the Norfork Community Center available.




Norfork Fire Chief Jeremy Campbell says they used to use the First Baptist Church as a storm shelter.

The fire department will be responsible for opening and closing the community center when there is severe weather.

Campbell says the community center has many good reasons to use it as a storm shelter.

Another area of safety the Norfork Fire Department is helping with is offering a warming center during times of cold weather this winter.

Campbell says the storm shelter and warming station are both available to anyone in the area, not just Norfork residents.
