William Travis Alexander, a 25-year resident of the Twin Lakes Area, has dedicated his life to the sport of wrestling and the athletes he mentors. A steadfast volunteer coach for the Mountain Home High School Bombers and Lady Bombers wrestling programs, Alexander’s journey reflects decades of commitment to fostering excellence, opportunity, and sportsmanship in amateur athletics.Alexander’s wrestling career began nearly 40 years ago in high school in Missouri, where a chance encounter with the sport sparked a lifelong passion. After excelling as a competitor, he served over a decade in the United States Marine Corps, including multiple combat deployments. Upon returning home, he turned his focus to building wrestling programs in Arkansas.

He played a pivotal role in establishing the Mountain Home Flyers youth wrestling club and helped launch the high school wrestling program shortly after it was sanctioned by the Arkansas Activities Association in 2008-–2009. Through tireless volunteer work—recruiting athletes, organizing practices, and advocating for resources—Alexander transformed the fledgling program into a thriving powerhouse. Under his guidance, both the Bombers and Lady Bombers achieved competitive success, with athletes advancing to state and national tournaments.

He was named 2021 Arkansas Coach of the Year and was honored with the 2024 Lifetime Service Award from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s Arkansas Chapter—testaments to his selfless dedication and lasting impact.
