It’s another full Friday night of high school football across North Central Arkansas and southern Missouri as teams head into the heart of conference play.

In Class 3A action, Yellville-Summit is still looking for its first win of the year as the Panthers make the trip south to Mountain View. The Panthers come in at 0–5, while the Yellowjackets are 1–4 on the season and looking to build momentum at home.

Marshall will try to bounce back into the win column after a tough loss last week. The Bobcats, sitting at 3–2, will hit the road to face a struggling Rosebud team that’s still searching for its first win at 0–5.

Harrison will also be away from home Friday night. The Goblins, now 2–3, travel to Clarksville to take on the 1–4 Panthers in a 5A–West matchup. Harrison is looking to even its record before returning home next week.

One of the biggest games in the area, and maybe the state, will take place in Salem. The Greyhounds, the defending Class 3A State Champions, are 5–0 and will put their perfect record on the line when they host another undefeated team in the Atkins Red Devils, who also stand at 5–0. Expect a packed house and a playoff-type atmosphere for this one.

Elsewhere, Melbourne will have a tough test as the 3–2 Bearkatz welcome an unbeaten Mayflower squad sitting at 5–0. Melbourne will look to slow down the Eagles’ high-powered offense and pick up a statement win at home.

In Izard County, the Cougars, now 1–4, will host McCrory. The Jaguars are 2–3 on the year and looking to get back to .500 with a road win.

Across the state line in Missouri, several local teams are also in action.
Thayer puts its unbeaten record on the line as the Bobcats, now 6–0, travel to Ava to take on the 3–3 Bears.

Clever, sitting at 4–1, will head to Hollister, where the Tigers enter at 4–2 after a solid start to their season.

Poplar Bluff, at 1–5, faces a tough road challenge against the West Plains Zizzers, who stand at 4–2 and look to stay in the conference hunt.

Forsyth, at 3–3, will travel to Strafford, who comes in at 1–5, while Carl Junction and Branson meet with both teams sitting at 4–2.

It’s shaping up to be another exciting Friday night under the lights for area football fans.
