It’s another full Friday night of high school football across North Central Arkansas and southern Missouri as teams head into the heart of conference play.
In Class 3A action, Yellville-Summit is still looking for its first win of the year as the Panthers make the trip south to Mountain View. The Panthers come in at 05, while the Yellowjackets are 14 on the season and looking to build momentum at home.
Marshall will try to bounce back into the win column after a tough loss last week. The Bobcats, sitting at 32, will hit the road to face a struggling Rosebud team that’s still searching for its first win at 05.
Harrison will also be away from home Friday night. The Goblins, now 23, travel to Clarksville to take on the 14 Panthers in a 5AWest matchup. Harrison is looking to even its record before returning home next week.
One of the biggest games in the area, and maybe the state, will take place in Salem. The Greyhounds, the defending Class 3A State Champions, are 50 and will put their perfect record on the line when they host another undefeated team in the Atkins Red Devils, who also stand at 50. Expect a packed house and a playoff-type atmosphere for this one.
Elsewhere, Melbourne will have a tough test as the 32 Bearkatz welcome an unbeaten Mayflower squad sitting at 50. Melbourne will look to slow down the Eagles’ high-powered offense and pick up a statement win at home.
In Izard County, the Cougars, now 14, will host McCrory. The Jaguars are 23 on the year and looking to get back to .500 with a road win.
Across the state line in Missouri, several local teams are also in action.
Thayer puts its unbeaten record on the line as the Bobcats, now 60, travel to Ava to take on the 33 Bears.
Clever, sitting at 41, will head to Hollister, where the Tigers enter at 42 after a solid start to their season.
Poplar Bluff, at 15, faces a tough road challenge against the West Plains Zizzers, who stand at 42 and look to stay in the conference hunt.
Forsyth, at 33, will travel to Strafford, who comes in at 15, while Carl Junction and Branson meet with both teams sitting at 42.
It’s shaping up to be another exciting Friday night under the lights for area football fans.
