The Baxter Health Mobile Mammography Unit (MMU) continues to save lives across North Central Arkansas by bringing breast cancer screenings directly to women who might otherwise go without.Since launching in 2001, the mobile unit has delivered state-of-the-art 3-D mammography to communities in 11 counties. Each year, thousands of women are screened, many uninsured, underinsured, or without transportation to larger hospitals.KTLO News spoke with coordinator of the MMU, Sarah Delacruz who explains the details of the mobile unit.

Health officials say early detection can reduce breast cancer deaths by up to 40 percent, and the Baxter Health unit is making that possible close to home. Every screening means a greater chance of catching cancer early, when treatment is most effective.
All proceeds from local fundraisers, including the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Poker Run, go toward supporting the Baxter Health Mammography Unit and its lifesaving work throughout the region.
