Emus sighted on the loose in MH and Baxter County

Emu spotted Wednesday morning on Rodeo Dr. near Hackler Elementary in Mountain Home.

Social media feeds have been buzzing locally the last couple days with the sighting of emu birds on the loose in Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home.Multiple posts on Facebook Tuesday and Wednesday morning have shown pictures of the birds along Weber Road and Rodeo Drive. At one point according to witnesses an emu was spotted running in the field behind the KTLO, Classic Hits and the Boot studios on Highway 5 North in Mountain Home. Residents and a police car where seen along Ridgemont Way behind the station giving chase to the elusive creature.

Mountain Home Police Chief spoke with KTLO’s Heather Loftis Wednesday morning and says they originate from near Midway.
