Local business owner and community member Danny Woods has announced his candidacy for Baxter County Justice of the Peace, District 11.

Woods, a first-time candidate, has lived in the county for 35 years. During that time, he has owned and operated several businesses, including an excavation, road maintenance, and construction company. For the past seven years, he has been the owner of Woods Feed & Farm Supply in Jordan where he continues to serve local farmers and families.

A recent announcement by the current JP for district 11 is what prompted Woods to throw his hat in for the race.

Infrastructure tops the Jordan resident’s list of things that need to be addressed in the county.

District 11 encompasses rural southern Baxter County and Wood proposes a public forum to cultivate discussion on what he sees as the county’s biggest issue.

In speaking with KTLO News Woods stated that he supports County Judge Litty and the current Quorum Court but he does have reservations on the handling of the previous airport commission and continued to voice his concerns that the county’s roads need to be given serious attention.

Should he be elected as JP for District 11 Woods says he will always be a call away for his constituents.

In addition to his business, Danny Woods is the president of the Brunner Hill Water Association Board, a cattle farmer for more than 30 years, and he attends East Side Baptist Church in Mountain Home.

A Christian, husband, father of three, and proud grandfather of twin granddaughters who help in the family business, Woods said his values are rooted in faith, family, and hard work.

Following the recent announcement by current District 11 Justice of the Peace Eric Payne to run for county judge, the race for the district seat is now between Danny Wood and Tom Canta of Buford.
