Long Island pulls away to beat Missouri State

Visiting Long Island shot over 60% and outscored Missouri State in the second half to earn a 75-61 win Monday night.

Zaxton King led the Bears (3-3) with 15 points, while Keith Palek III added 13 and Kobi Williams 12. Michael Osei-Bonsu had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Melachi Davis paced Long Island (4-3) with 18 points and four assists. Jamal Fuller added 14, Greg Gordon 13, and Tre’shawn Sheppard pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Missouri State led 40-35 at halftime, but Long Island opened the second half with a 14-1 run to take control. The Bears struggled from long range, making just one of their final 18 three-point attempts, while Long Island finished 29-of-48 (.604) from the field.

Missouri State managed 34 points in the paint and 17 off offensive rebounds but could not recover. Long Island held a 33-27 edge on the boards and recorded six blocks.

The Bears will return to action Sunday, Nov. 30, hosting Northeastern State at 2 p.m.
