Police say Christopher Davenport of Forrest City was found Wednesday hiding in the attic of a vacant home inside the city limits.
Davenport was discovered missing around 7 p.m. Monday during a routine headcount at the St. Francis County Detention Center. According to the sheriff’s office, Davenport was a trustee, and surveillance video showed him taking out the trash before running away at about 6:21 p.m.
Forrest City Police, Arkansas State Police, the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service all assisted in the search.
Arkansas State Police report Davenport was being held under trustee status on multiple felony charges, including first-degree battery, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and several weapons offenses. He also faced additional charges stemming from a previous arrest by the U.S. Marshals Service.
ASP noted Davenport had been arrested on Sept. 19 following a shooting at the Star One Food Mart in Forrest City. He had been transported to the detention center and was awaiting trial at the time of his escape.
On Tuesday night, deputies, U.S. Marshals and state troopers searched a residence on South Washington Street but did not locate Davenport there.
