Cotter takes down Mammoth Spring, Izard County keeps rolling in basketball action Tuesday

In senior boys play, Cotter improved to 7-12 after slipping past Mammoth Spring 55-54 in a game that stayed tight to the finish. Izard County handled Marshall 59-37 behind a balanced effort, Sebastian Robbins led with 15 points, Kade Yancey added 14 and Benaiah Spray scored 11 as the Cougars moved to 2-0 in conference play.

Timbo picked up its fifth win, taking down Viola 53-43, while Mountain View suffered its first loss of the season, falling hard to Vilonia 83-40. Valley Springs trailed early and never recovered in a 63-38 loss to Elkins.

Bay continued a strong stretch, improving to 9-4 with a 65-57 win over Buffalo Island Central. Melbourne came up just short against Cave City 53-51, and Calico Rock couldn’t keep pace with Ozark Mountain, falling 55-32.

On the girls’ side, Cotter moved to 7-4 after shaking off a slow start to beat Mammoth Spring 43-35. Izard County stayed perfect in conference play, outlasting Marshall 54-44 behind a standout 20-point night from freshman Hadleigh Herron, with Olivia Spray and Kallie Skidmore adding 11 apiece.

Mountain View fell to Vilonia 53-33, Harrisburg rolled past Bay 65-49, and Viola had no trouble with Timbo in a 70-18 final. Yellville-Summit dropped its matchup with Hector 42-35.

Melbourne handled Cave City 72-44, Valley Springs pulled away from Elkins 63-36, and Calico Rock nearly forced overtime but came up just short to Ozark Mountain 62-60.
