A small crowd of about 40 people gathered Saturday morning on the Mountain Home square to hold a vigil for the woman shot by an ICE officer Wednesday in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Organizers of the gathering stated it was important for them to take time to remember the woman. Along with candles, small signs with names were on display which organizers said represented the names of those who have died in ICE custody.

The victim, 37-year-old Renee Good, was a U.S. citizen who had moved to the Twin Cities from the Kansas City area. Witnesses say they saw a Honda Pilot blocked by multiple federal agents, and an agent tried to open the driver’s side door. The motorist then put her vehicle into reverse, then into drive. Witnesses said they then heard three shots fired. The Honda traveled another several feet before crashing into another vehicle.

A senior DHS official has confirmed that the agent who opened fire was a member of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Special Response Team a specially trained tactical unit within ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations. He was previously dragged by a car when trying to arrest a man in Bloomington, Minnesota, six months ago.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem characterized the driver’s actions as an “act of domestic terrorism.” President Trump stated that Good “ran over” an officer.

Other videos posted to social media of the deadly encounter have created debate regarding the events that transpired. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have been public about their disagreement with President Trump’s and DHS’ claims.

The shooting is being investigated by the FBI.
