It was basketball time in The Hangar once again for the Mountain Home Bombers. The Bombers and Lady Bombers looked to build on 2-0 starts in 5A-west conference play.
The night began with the Lady Bombers taking on Siloam Springs. Mountain Home would get out to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter thanks in large part to Livi Fosness who had 8 of her 21 points in the first quarter. Mountain Home would, however, get outscored by Siloam Springs 15-13 in the 2nd quarter resulting in a 33-23 lead going into the halftime break. Mountain Home would sprint out early in the 3rd quarter and outscore the Panthers 22-8 to take a 55-30 lead going into the final quarter. Mountain Home would empty the bench in the 4th quarter and play subs for the remainder of the game to polish off the 68-39 victory.
The Lady Bombers were led in scoring by Livi Fosness with 21 points. Brooklynn Mitchell added 20, and Jayla Yonkers added 14.
Mountain Home improves to 13-5 and 3-0 in the 5A-west.
In other girls action around the 5A-west Farmington defeated Harrison 68-31, Greenwood eased past Alma 82-53, and Van Buren ran past Russellville 50-29.
On the boys side the Bombers looked to start 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 2018. The Bombers would come out firing on all cylinders as they would not allow Siloam Springs to even score a field goal as the Bombers would get out to a 17-1 lead after the first quarter. The pace would slow down as Mountain Home would get outscored 18-14 but would maintain a 31-18 lead into the halftime break. The 3rd quarter would see a few interesting events. Mountain Home had a layup by Jackson Corp wiped away as the official would blow the play dead to assess a flop warning to Siloam Springs. Later on in the quarter Cody Cormican would drive to the rim and Siloam would get whistled for a foul. The officials incorrectly ruled that the ball went in the basket, after a discussion and a technical was awarded to Siloam Springs, the bucket stood but the incorrect shooter would shoot the “and-one” basket. Mountain Home, after all that, would lead 51-32 heading into the final quarter. The Bombers would go 8 of 10 from the charity stripe in the final quarter to bring home the 61-46 victory in The Hangar.
Mountain Home had 4 scorers in double figures led by Rhett Gilbert with 18 points. Cody Cormican added 14, Bailor Tate chipped in 11 points, all of which were in the 2nd half, and Jackson Corp scored 10.
