Two more counties in north central Arkansas has been added to the list of those with burn bans. Boone and Stone counties are now under burn bans as of Thursday.
Boone and Stone join Fulton, Izard and Searcy counties with burn bans in place due to the dry conditions.
Violating the burn ban is a misdemeanor that comes with a fine up to $2,500 and jail time up to one year.
The burn bans will remain in effect until sufficient rain falls.
The Arkansas Forestry Division website has the entire state listed in the moderate category of wildfire danger.
Twenty nine of the state’s 75 counties are currently under burn bans.
