The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Board on Wednesday upheld a decision to revoke the Peppermint Hippo’s Private Club Class B permit, a move that ends the club’s ability to stay open until 5 a.m.
The board affirmed a ruling by ABC Director Christy Bjornson following years of violations tied to the North Little Rock adult club. Scott Hardin, spokesperson for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, said the case dates back to 2021.
Hardin said the investigation began after a patron left the club and later died in a traffic accident, though that incident alone did not initially lead to revocation. Officials say the decision was based on a pattern of violations over several years, including overserving intoxicated customers, violence involving employees, alleged credit card fraud, and violations of state regulations governing adult entertainment.
According to the ABC order, violations occurred between November 2021 and April 2025. Hardin said investigators identified repeated and serious offenses, including reports of unauthorized credit card charges totaling tens of thousands of dollars connected to visits to the club.
Hardin emphasized that permit revocations are rare and typically used only after other corrective efforts fail. He said ABC generally relies on warnings and education before taking such action.
